History

In 1992, Nexus Health Systems embarked on a mission to create specialized healthcare environments where patients could receive treatment and rehabilitation specific to their needs.

Nexus opened HealthBridge Children’s Hospital - Houston in 1999 to focus on the provision of step-down ICU and rehabilitative care to technologically dependent medically fragile children from birth to age 21.

Located in Houston’s upscale Westchase area, today our hospital is a 40-bed pediatric specialty hospital providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary care for medically complex pediatric patients in a home-like, non-institutional environment. We work with patients who need long term specialty care as they transition from the acute care hospital and begin their journey toward recovery.

Every patient has a unique treatment plan that is designed specifically to help meet individual goals and obtain the highest quality of life possible.

Our outstanding medical staff includes physicians board-certified in pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and psychiatry that are aided by a variety of subspecialty physicians. The clinical team includes nurses, dietitians, Child Life specialists, child educators, social workers, case managers, and respiratory therapists.

Our staff provides on-going communication and education to patients and their families throughout their stay.  We believe that the family is an important part of the treatment plan as well as the healing process, and encourage family participation as much as possible.

Looking towards the future, we will continue expand our offerings in order to meet patient demands. We always strive to care for each of our patients with dignity, respect and compassion as we help them on the road to recovery.
